Murphy’s husband wanted ‘life support’ machine

Brittany Murphy’s husband wanted to keep her on life support.

Simon Monjack has revealed the actress – who tragically passed away aged 32 on December 20 last year after an alleged prescription drugs overdose – was technically alive when she was admitted to hospital.

He said: “The doctor said, ‘She’ll be brain dead, basically.’ And asked, ‘What do you want me to do?’ and I said, ‘I want you to keep going.’

“Because in my mind, I’m thinking you never know what medical thing might happen in 10 years time.”

Unfortunately, a short while later the doctors returned to say the star had taken a turn for the worse and there was nothing they could do.

Simon added to ‘Access Hollywood’: “And then, the doctor came in with a whole grieving team and said that Brittany hadn’t made it.”

Brittany’s death, from a cardiac arrest, was later listed as an accident in an autopsy report.

Simon vehemently refutes the notion there are any parallels between Brittany’s death and that of actor Corey Haim – who passed away last week, also of an overdose, after a long battle with drugs.

Simon said: “Corey was someone that had openly used drugs for many, many years and had a problem.

“Brittany was someone that never used a drug in her life.”

When questioned about this, Simon maintained he had never seen his wife use any illegal drugs and that she never abused prescription medication.

He added: “Death is the only place she found peace.”
