At last, slebs prove they DO have their uses, with a host of famouses, including Ricky Gervais, Pamela Anderson and Brigitte Bardot, calling for a ban on bullfighting in a region of Espana (Spain if you’re a dufus).

Catalonia responded by announcing they had officially banned the age-old practice yesterday after a parliamentary vote, which passed through with an absolute majority of 68 to 55. The ban doesn’t come into effect though until 2012.

Anderson took to Twatter to celebrate, saying: “Some historic news to report: Catalonia has just today banned bullfighting!”

Gervais also released a statement saying: “I am absolutely delighted with this result. However, we mustn’t get complacent. There are still many outdated practices around the world that are simply cruel.”
