Cowboys & Aliens is released in the US tomorrow, and to wet our appetites for the UK release, Paramount have gifted us three new posters for the movie showing its main cast.
Daniel Craig (aaaaand swoooooooon!), Harrison Ford (we used to swoon) and Olivia Wilde (likes to show her nips) star in the movie from Iron Man’s Jon Favreau alongside Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Clancy Brown, Noah Ringer, Adam Beach, Walton Goggins and Abigail Spencer.
Synopsis: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents–townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors–all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.
Cowboys & Aliens receives its UK premiere at the Empire BIG SCREEN event on 12th-14th August and is then released across cinemas in the UK on August 17th.
Thank you Paramount for finally releasing the final scene of Captain America: The First Avenger (despite the fact it’s already leaked and most people have seen it). The movie is of course released in the UK today, so I’m guessing that’s what prompted Paramount’s decision.
In the final scene, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) tells Captain America (Chris Evans) that he’s been asleep for 70 years, followed by sneak peeks of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), all brought together to form The Avengers. Try and contain your excitement fanboys! The scene also shows Evans in a new 21st Century uniform.
Marvel Studios brings their prodigious patriot to the big screen with this action-filled outing surrounding Steve Rogers, a once meek U.S. soldier turned hero thanks to an experimental super serum, giving him the strength and agility far beyond a normal human being. This production will be followed up two months later with The Avengers, teaming the character with other Marvel screen heroes from their catalogue.
Here’s the new poster and an image from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, from Optimum, directed by Tomas Alfredson, starring Gary Oldman and a stellar British cast including Kathy Burke, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Ciarán Hinds, John Hurt, Toby Jones and Mark Strong.
Set in the 1970s, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy finds George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a recently retired MI6 agent, doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service. However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the Circus, Smiley is drawn back into the murky field of espionage. Tasked with investigating which of his trusted former colleagues has chosen to betray him and their country, Smiley narrows his search to four suspects – all experienced, urbane, successful agents – but past histories, rivalries and friendships make it far from easy to pinpoint the man who is eating away at the heart of the British establishment.
The film is released in UK cinemas on September 16th.

And yes, I’ll be there in Venice bringing you all the news, hurrah for me.
Founded in 2000, Marshall Artists is the menswear brand that defines cool – and if you don’t believe me, just ask Jude Law, David Beckham and Liam and Noel Gallagher, all of whom the label counts as fans.
A mix of classic styling with a contemporary look that encapsulates British menswear culture, the brand draws inspiration from classic British sports, sailing, mountaineering, traditional tailoring, the great outdoors, Club House attire and vintage military & Naval uniforms.
For AW11, the label has diversified their portfolio into footwear and accessories, which will be available later in the year, and as for the clothing, it’s a mix of leathers, canvases, knitwear, sweatshirts, denim, hand-stitching and quilted-fabrics – some with key detailing that matches the new footwear to the garments. It’s this aesthetic that makes them one of the UK’s best loved menswear brands – creating quality modern tailored garments.
Topshop is soon to launch ‘Edited By’ in their existing Edited space at 286 Regent Street and the new Edited space within their Manchester Arndale store.
Started in January 2011, the concept of the Edited space in London was to provide a destination for fashionistas seeking out the very best of the Oxford Circus store, featuring hand picked items from Topshop’s Design Director Jacqui Markham. With new additions added each week, plus the convenience of its own changing room and till point, Edited offers a more chilled out shopping experience, but still offering easy access to Topshop’s main store.
‘Edited By’ will now invite fashion mavericks in, to guest edit the space. Selecting key premium and basic pieces from the mainline, as well as Topshop Boutique, the guest editor will choose key items they feel represent their aesthetic. This is a true sneak-peek into the hot-picks and tastes of some of London’s style visionaries, and their interpretation of what’s available in London’s largest fashion emporium. The guest editor’s influence will also be reflected with a personally selected music playlist and a selection of books and magazines which are inspirational and relevant to them.
‘Edited By’ will launch both instore and online on 2nd August for a two week period, continuing on a monthly basis with new guest editors taking over the space every month. The concept begins with Dazed and Confused’s Senior Fashion Editor and long term Topshop collaborator Katie Shillingford, whose selection will be available in both the London and Manchester Edited spaces. With an eclectic and directional personal style, her experimental approach to fashion is guaranteed to bring a diverse range of Topshop pieces together.

BT has been forced by High Court judge, Justice Arnold, to block access to a website providing links to pirated movies.
Newzbin 2, a members-only site, makes movies, music and other applications available and describes itself as “the Google of Usenet” (Usenet discussion forums). The decision to block the site marks the first time that an ISP has been ordered to prevent access, as part of a major crackdown on internet piracy.
The Motion Picture Association (MPA), who brought the case against BT - stated that the site – originally Newzbin – makes £1m a year from 700,000 members, but holds no licences. In his ruling, Justice Arnold stated:
“In my judgment it follows that BT has actual knowledge of other persons using its service to infringe copyright: it knows that the users and operators of Newzbin 2 infringe copyright on a large scale, and in particular infringe the copyrights of the studios in large numbers of their films and television programmes.”
He added: “It knows that the users of Newzbin 2 include BT subscribers, and it knows those users use its service to receive infringing copies of copyright works made available to them by Newzbin 2.”
Both the MPA and BT will be back in court in October to discuss how the block will be carried out. BT has since confirmed that it will not appeal the ruling. Rights-owners said that the victory will lead to further cases against UK ISPs and service providers.
The boyzilian known as Becks, because he likes a good back, crack and nutsack wax (and now you know why he talks like Minnie Mouse) has announced he’s designing a kecks range for H&M which interests us for one reason only: the chance to gawp at his man package in the ad campaigns.
The David Beckham Bodywear range (just in case you forget who he is when stroking his face on the packet at the till point) will be launched next February, with the footballer telling media: “Over the past year, I’ve been developing my Bodywear range with my team and I’m extremely positive about what we have designed and produced. The final piece in the jigsaw was a retail partner who has the vision and capability to distribute these products globally. In H&M we have found the perfect partner to collaborate with.”
Becks’ pants will be available in 1800 stores in 40 different countries. So expect to see him stretched across the No 43 bus, perfectly smoothed with the help of Photoshop. He comes sans nuts though, Posh took those. She has them implanted into her tits.
