Weirdness reigns in the world of Hollywood via Venice via Chinese whispers – or Norwegian interviews. Jeremy Renner, noted for his role in ‘The Hurt Locker’ and Noomi Rapace of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ could be starring in ‘Handel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ as highly specific bounty hunters in a ‘very unique’ take on the fairytale from director Tommy Wirkola (‘Dead Snow’). (Of course, everyone knows not to modify ‘unique’: something’s either unique or it isn’t. Nothing is ‘very unique’. Remember that.)
Weirder still is that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are co-producing the film which is set 15 years after the ‘gingerbread house incident’. Apparently influenced by Shaun of the Dead, the actor/producers want to bring a daffy, dark edge to the whole concept.
Why bring two of cinema’s most serious actors in on this one? Your guess is as good as mine.
