Remember when Marty McFly exclaimed “Power Laces! Alriiight!” in 1989, pulling on a pair of Nike Air Mags which tightened and fastened automatically?
Well 22 years later, an ultra limited edition Back To The Future Nike Air Mag trainer is going up for auction on eBay each day for the next 10 days. The boots are not an exact copy of those seen in the 1989 movie, Back To The Future II, but they’re as close as you can get to the once futuristic footwear – the first rechargeable pair of Nike trainers. The power laces are missing, but the shape is familiar, as are the glowing LED panel and luminous Nike logo which can glow for up to five hours per charge.
1,500 pairs have been made, with 150 pairs per day going up for auction with all proceeds going directly to the Michael J Fox Foundation, supporting sufferers of Parkinson’s disease, like the actor himself. If you fancy bidding on a pair, head to the official eBay site. I’m still waiting for a hoverboard please …
